Chelsea star's agent 'holds talks' with Liverpool over summer transfer

Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi, with the player's agent 'holding a conversation' with the Reds.

Jurgen Klopp's side are reportedly keeping a close eye on the 18 year-old, and are ready to rival Bayern Munich for the winger's signature in the summer.

The Blues rejected a £35 million bid from the German champions during the January transfer window, and are desperate to tie the star to a new £100,000-a-week contract.

But according to German outlet Kicker , Hudson-Odoi's brother Bradley, who is also his representative, recently held a conversation with Liverpool over a potential move in the summer.

Hudson-Odoi has not started a Premier League game for Chelsea this season, and has been limited to appearances in the FA Cup and Europa League, but he has impressed with a clutch of goals and assists.

And it was these glimpses that was enough for Gareth Southgate to hand the Chelsea academy graduate his full England debut this week, starting him in the 5-1 win over Montenegro on Monday - days after coming on for his first cap against the Czech Republic at Wembley.

Speaking after the Montenegro game, Southgate was full of praise for the Blues winger.

“I’m really pleased,” he said.

“The game was a simple one, in that we had talked all week about using the width and making sure that we didn’t turn down the option of using our wingers.

The brilliant response Eden Hazard gave as he is handed difficult Arsenal or Tottenham dilemma

“That was where we were fabulously productive on the night and young Callum Hudson-Odoi put in a fabulous performance and showed what he’s shown us all week.

“And for the team to recover from going a goal behind, at a place which has been very difficult for us before, we showed some good character and it was a good test for us.

“With young players, it’s always up to them. You can see the talent, and his application with us has been excellent and he’s got to continue that," he added.

“It’s a great step forward for him, but like any player, you’ve got to constantly work and look to improve.”
