Chelsea star Reece James signs new five-and-a-half-year contract at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea defender Reece James has signed a new long-term contract at the club.

The 20-year-old has broken through into the Blues first team under Frank Lampard this season, and has now committed his future to the club by penning a deal that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2025.

The England youth international had spent last season on loan at Wigan, and like teammates Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori, a spell in the Championship proved the perfect springboard for his young career.

He scored on his debut in the 7-1 EFL Cup win over Grimsby Town in September, and has gone on to make 18 appearances so far this season.

“It has been my dream to be here at Chelsea and play week in week out and to have a contract for another five-and-a-half years is living the dream again,” James told the club website.

“I have always wanted to be here and another five-and-a-half years means a lot to me and a lot to my family.”
