Chelsea star Reece James hails ‘unbelievable’ team spirit following Newcastle brace

Chelsea star Reece James has hailed the “unbelievable” team spirit of his side as Thomas Tuchel’s men moved three points clear in the Premier League title race.

While the manager has stressed that there is a long way to go and refused to be drawn into any discussion about what looked like a big weekend at the league’s summit as both Manchester City and Liverpool dropped points, James was slightly more open in expressing his delight at the way the results had panned out.

The England international scored twice in a 3-0 win at St James’ Park, moving to mirror teammate Ben Chilwell as a palpable goal threat amid the absences of Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku, breaking the deadlock during what had started to look like a frustrating afternoon for Chelsea.

“Coming away from home to St James’ Park, which is a tough place, and picking up three points when the two teams behind have dropped points is obviously a great result for us and puts us in a strong position,” he told the club’s official website.

“Everyone loves playing and everyone wants to win, the team spirit in the changing room at the moment is unbelievable.”
