Chelsea star Reece James fires clear four-word message after Borussia Dortmund defeat

Chelsea star Reece James has reacted to his side's 1-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League round of 16 first-leg clash in Germany on Wednesday.

James played the full 90 minutes as Graham Potter's side tasted defeat in the Champions League for the first time since a 1-0 reverse at Dinamo Zagreb back in September. The Blues are currently in tenth place in the Premier League as Potter continues to get to grips with an influx of players signed in the summer and January transfer windows.

Karim Adeyemi scored Dortmund's goal when he raced past Enzo Fernandez and rounded goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga in a blistering counter-attack. But Chelsea were unlucky not to have taken at least a draw from the game given Joao Felix came close when he hit the crossbar.

James responded to the Dortmund game with a clear message, posting to his Instagram story a picture of himself and his team-mates with the caption 'together until the end'.

Some supporters are unsure about Potter and have genuine fears of missing out on the Champions League only two years after they won the competition by beating Manchester City 1-0 in the 2020/21 final in Porto.

James is back from a knee injury and made his third start having played against West Ham and Fulham earlier this month.

Potter finally has James back to full fitness and will relish seeing the England star get back to the form that has made him one of the Premier League's top players.

"He's a great manager to work under, a very good person," James said of Potter.

"That helps a lot. The relationship, how well you get on with the players is a big part. He laid his cards out early when he arrived, that helped a lot. Even in the spell we're in, the transparency is always there. We always know our targets and end goals."
