Chelsea star Pedro has compared Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk to one of the Reds’ biggest nemeses: Sergio Ramos.
Europa League winners Chelsea face Champions League winners Liverpool tonight in the annual Uefa Super Cup Final, and during the Blues’ pre-match press commitments, the Spanish forward was quizzed on the calibre of Liverpool’s star man at the back.
Highlighting Van Dijk’s qualities, Pedro compared him with Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos - a villain from Liverpool’s 2018 Champions League Final loss due following a challenge that injured Mohamed Salah’s, forcing him to be substituted early in the match.
"They are very good central defenders, probably at this time at the top," said Pedro.
"Sergio Ramos is very good. I know him very well: great defender, great with the ball.
"Van Dijk is also the same: so strong, very good in the air, scores goals. Two big players.
"He's in a good moment. Last season with Liverpool, he had a great season winning the Champions League and the best player in the premier league. He's in a good moment and he's a good defender."
