Chelsea star Mason Mount hopeful of being fit to face Liverpool this weekend

Mason Mount has revealed he is hoping to be fit to face Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

Mount limped off injured 10 minutes into his side's Champions League defeat to Valencia at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

The Blues Academy graduate was on the end of a bad tackle from former Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin, with the now Valencia man picking up a caution as a result.

But despite hobbling off and being replaced by Pedro, Mount confirmed afterwards he was hopeful of being fit to face the Reds this weekend.

While Chelsea boss Frank Lampard also gave an update on the 20-year-old.

“He has got an ankle injury, we don’t know how bad it is, we are going to have to assess it in the next 24-48 hours to see the scale of the injury. To see how it is," Lampard told the assembled press post-match.

"It’s too soon to say, obviously it was a shame because he was playing so well and started well and we had to make the change early.”

Liverpool head to Stamford Bridge looking to make it six wins from six in the Premier League - and bounce back from Tuesday night's disappointing 2-0 defeat to Napoli in the Champions League.
