Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has heaped praise upon Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, issuing a big comparison.
The England international has excelled with the Blues in recent seasons, following a successful breakthrough on loan with Derby County under Frank Lamaprd.
Mount was a trusted ally of former Chelsea boss Lampard and has retained his importance in the starting Chelsea team since Thomas Tuchel took over the reigns from the former England midfielder.
Having been on the bench for Tuchel's first game against Wolves, coming on as a substitute, Mount has now started each of the last six Premier League matches for Chelsea.
That has coincided with an upturn in form, with two assists in the past four matches doubling his tally for the season.
As a result, Keane is unsurprised to see Mount continuing to earn opportunities with Chelsea since Tuchel's appointment and compared him to his former teammate Paul Scholes.
“We’ve been praising this lad now for the last number of years, the way he plays the game, almost like Paul Scholes, plays like a kid on the street, it all comes very easy for him," he told Sky Sports.
"Good first touch, seems an honest kid, he has a goal in him, he has an assist.
"There’s no surprise this lad is playing, when the manager came he would have had a look at him before.
"You get a better look when you work with the lads closely and again, no surprise that he’s going to go for this lad in most of the big games because he can trust him.
"He’s a top player and seems like a very good professional and an honest kid.”
