Chelsea attacking star Kai Havertz is refusing to underestimate the dangers Arsenal will pose ahead of tomorrow evening's London derby at Stamford Bridge.
The two sides will go head-to-head for the first time at Stamford Bridge since the Covid-19 pandemic began, with their last meeting on Chelsea's patch coming in January last year.
Since that meeting, an awful lot has changed for both clubs, with Chelsea having a new head coach at the helm in Thomas Tuchel and a crop of new players, whilst Arsenal have struggled to live up to expectations this season.
Although both sides will enter the contest with two Premier League victories from their last two outings within their sails, Chelsea are overwhelming favourites to record another three-point haul and maintain their quest to wrap up a top-four finish.
Arsenal, on the other hand, will make the short trip across the capital looking to keep their faint hopes of securing a UEFA Europa League berth alive.
But despite the Gunners' woes this season, Chelsea star Havertz, who scored twice in the Blues' last home game in the Premier League - a 2-0 triumph over Fulham - is refusing to underestimate Mikel Arteta's side.
"Arsenal are also fighting for a European place," Havertz told Chelsea's matchday programme. "They are a very strong side, very dangerous.
“It’s a London derby, so they will be very motivated. But if we play our best football we can win.”
On the Blues' own fortunes, Havertz continued: "When we play with confidence, there are not many teams that can beat us.
“The mix is very good, between experience and young players who are very hungry.
“Technically, tactically, almost everything fits right now. So it’s very important that we keep the momentum, because there are more big games coming. We keep on working because there is always room to improve.”
