Chelsea star Christian Pulisic to miss USA internationals after suffering hip injury against Crystal Palace

Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic will not be involved in the United States’ upcoming internationals after withdrawing from the squad due to injury.

Pulisic was on the score sheet against Crystal Palace on Saturday but was withdrawn with 10 minutes of the contest remaining.

Frank Lampard revealed in his post-match injury the 21-year-old had picked up a hip problem.

Having held talks with Chelsea, US head coach Gregg Berhalter has now confirmed Pulisic will have no role to play in Concacaf games against Canada on Saturday and Cuba next Wednesday.

“Christian is officially at this stage ruled out. We just got that information. This was a collaborative decision with the club looking after the best interest of the player.

“These decisions are always difficult because this group and the coaching staff want nothing more than to have Christian here but it was a risk weren’t willing to take at this time.”

Pulisic has been in superb form since fighting his way back into the Chelsea starting XI, scoring five times in his last three Premier League matches.

Chelsea will be hoping for a swift recovery, with the Blues in action against champions Manchester City after the international break.
