Chelsea star Ben Chilwell sends seven-word message to Hakim Ziyech after scoring vs Man City

Chelsea ended Manchester City's hopes of winning a famous quadruple this season by beating them 1-0 in their FA Cup semi-final clash at Wembley on Saturday evening.

Moroccan ace Hakim Ziyech netted the only goal of the game just ten minutes into the second half, tapping home Timo Werner's pass, to secure the Blues' passage to a second successive FA Cup final.

The victory was nothing more than what Chelsea deserved, producing a brilliant tactical performance to get the better of a City side who had beaten Borussia Dortmund away from home in midweek to secure their passage to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

It was a brilliant showing from start to finish from the Blues, offering strong sense of leadership in defence and a pleasing-on-the-eye approach in attack.

The performance, unsurprisingly, drew no shortage of admiration from head coach Thomas Tuchel, who waxed lyrical about his side's showing after leading them to their first cup final of his stewardship.

"Our target was to close the gap for 90 minutes because it's possible in football if you arrive with good momentum," Tuchel said in his post-match press conference.

"I am very, very happy and proud with the performance of our team because we played with a lot of courage, we were very self-confident and were brave with and against the ball.

"We had a very good start to the match, the first 35 minutes of the first half, and the first half of the second half. We deserved the win which was most important. We were very active and did not passive.

"We deserved a win against maybe the best manager and clearly one of the best teams. We are very happy with the performance and it will be a huge boost to our self-confidence, progression, and development.

"We arrived with a young team and young players, so it's important to have these experiences together. The most important thing now is to enjoy it today. The players feel it also because they are absolutely tired now."

Whilst it was an impressive team performance from the Blues, and one that fully warranted the win, Ziyech was the man of the moment, scoring the only goal of the game to set up another Wembley date against either Leicester City or Southampton next month.

The former Ajax man could not miss when presented with an opportunity to tap home Werner's pass and leave City chasing an equaliser.

After the game, Chelsea's players flooded social media with messages and pictures, celebrating their win over the Premier League champion-elect.

That included left wing-back Ben Chilwell, who sent a message to Ziyech after netting the winner.

Chilwell, in response to Ziyech's Instagram post, wrote: "Loves a goal in a big game."

Although Ziyech's maiden season in England has not been as action-packed as many would have expected, Chilwell's message does have substance to it.

The former Ajax man, who has scored five goals in all competitions this season, scored in the second-leg of the Blues' Champions League round-of-16 win over Atletico Madrid, in the FA Cup quarter-final win over Sheffield United and against City on Saturday, proving that he can deliver when it matters most.

In total, the Moroccan has racked up 30 appearances in his maiden season at Stamford Bridge, claiming four assists alongside his five goals.
