Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger explains Kylian Mbappe plan ahead of Euro 2020 clash

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has admitted he might have to play "a little dirty" against Kylian Mbappe and France on Tuesday.

Rudiger, who showed brilliant form for the Blues since Thomas Tuchel was appointed boss in January, is a key player for Germany - who will be hoping to beat one of the tournament favourites in France in the 'group of death', Group F.

Germany, France, Portugal and Hungary make up the group - with any one of those countries having the chance to play England, should they progress, in the knockout stages.

Rudiger looks set to start for Joachim Low's side on Tuesday evening and he has revealed his plan to cope with the tremendous Mbappe.

The 22-year-old France striker had another terrific season for Paris Saint-Germain, scoring 42 goals in all competitions, while also registering 11 assists for his team-mates.

Rudiger said: "Of course, they have good forwards, we have to be ready to win the one-on-one challenges. We have to be a little dirty, not always be nice or try to play nice football.

"Against players like them, you have to throw down a marker."

The 28-year-old also spoke about the protective mask he wore in the latter stages of the 2020/21 season for Chelsea, and confirmed it would still be there for the Euros.

He said: "It's still there for protection. I'll have to see what the Chelsea doctors say when I get back to London."

Although he is unlikely to start, Rudiger could also come up against his Blues team-mate Olivier Giroud on Tuesday.

Karim Benzema, Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann are set to start in a front three for France against the Germans.
