Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger is a fitness doubt ahead of Germany’s Euro 2020 clash with England, Joachim Low has suggested.
Die Mannschaft travel to Wembley Stadium on Tuesday evening to do battle with the Three Lions in the last-16 of the competition.
It is certainly a game that is important to both nations both historically but also in their hopes of winning the tournament with both holders Portugal and favourites France having been eliminated, whilst the Netherlands were ousted by the Czech Republic.
The victor at Wembley will go on to play either Sweden or Ukraine in the quarter-finals before a potential match-up with the Czechs or Denmark in the final four.
Germany may be without Chelsea man Rudiger in their attempts to reach the next stage, though, with his availability for the game uncertain.
Talking in a pre-match press conference, Low said: “We decide with the doctors on match day.
“Maybe they [Rüdiger and Gosens] will get up and feel well but maybe it will get worse overnight so we need to wait.
“I don’t know if these three will be at our disposal, I cannot say that. But [if not] we will have other solutions.”
So far, Rudiger has played every minute of Euro 2020 as Germany finished second in Group F.
He is not the only Chelsea player who is uncertain of his selection for the crunch clash at Wembley though.
Both Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell could only rejoin the group today having been forced to self isolate after contact with Blues teammate Billy Gilmour, who tested positive for COVID-19.
