Chelsea squad to take on Boreham Wood revealed as N'Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek included

N'Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have been confirmed to be in Chelsea's squad to face Boreham Wood this evening, having not travelled on the club's USA tour. The duo were left out of Thomas Tuchel's squad due to their vaccination status, which meant they could not enter the US.

football.london revealed yesterday that the duo were set to play 45 minutes in this evening's friendly, which is set to kick off at 7pm. Dujon Sterling, who also missed out on making Tuchel's squad, having trained with the first team since his return from loan with Blackpool. The young full-back is expected to play for an hour.

The trio are joined by new signing Eddie Beach to face the Wood. The goalkeeper joined Chelsea from Southampton this summer. The former Saints stopper had played outfield until under-15s, allowing the 18-year-old to be comfortable playing out from the back.

The likes of Lewis Hall and Xavier Simons are also involved having made their Chelsea first team debuts last season, while Matt Miazga and Baba Rahman are also set to feature, having spent last season on loan at Alaves and Reading, respectively. Henry Lawrence, who spent time on loan at AFC Wimbledon under new under-23 boss Mark Robinson last season is part of the squad. Lewis Hall, Charlie Webster, and Mason Burstow participated in first-team training in the opening week of pre-season and are now back involved with the development group.

See the full squad below:

They will also have two trialists involved in the squad. A fair few development squad players are missing from the squad, like Josh Brooking, Xavier Mbuyamba, Jude Soonsup-Bell, Josh Tobin, Malik Mothersille, Edwin Andersson, Joe Haigh and Derrick Abu, which could just be due to returning loanees and Kante and Loftus-Cheek being involved.
