Chelsea show off how they're making Stamford Bridge a London first

Chelsea have given an update on how Stamford Bridge is coming along.

It's less than a month since the 1-0 win over Manchester City meant the Blues joined the likes of Juventus, Benfica, Porto and Nottingham Forest as the sides to have lifted European football's richest prize on two occasions.

As a result, Chelsea remain the most successful London team in the competition, stretching their lead over Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, they aren't yet the most successful English team in the history of the Champions League/European Cup as they still trail Liverpool's haul of six, so there's plenty of to catch up to the Reds.

If club director Marina Granovskaia is able to pull off a triple transfer swoop this summer then Chelsea will be a serious force to be reckoned with in the Premier League title race and would have a good chance at retaining their Champions League crown next season.

But that's the future, and some Blues supporters are very much focused on the present.

As spotted and discussed on Reddit earlier in the month there was a noticeable addition at Stamford Bridge following their triumph in Portgual in May.

The image showed the honours list at the stadium entrance had been updated.

Not only has the date of the second Champions League win been added, but there's also the picture of club captain Cesar Azpilicueta holding the famous trophy above his head.

And now via @chelseayouth on Twitter, you can see that the Stamford Bridge pitch is being relaid ahead of the new season.

Furthermore, 'Home Of The Champions: European Champions League winners 2021' has also been to one of the stadium entrances.

Of course, the latter is a first in London.

Not only are Chelsea the only team from the capital to win the Champions League, but the fact they have done it twice is also certainly a cause for celebration.

And with them being the sole London representative in the competition next season, there's a chance two could become three, thus leaving Arsenal and Tottenham even further behind.
