Chelsea set to rival Manchester United and Liverpool to pull off cut-price Jadon Sancho transfer

Chelsea are said to be planning a move for Borussia Dortmund superstar Jadon Sancho.

Sancho is once again attracting plenty of interest ahead of this summer with Liverpool and Manchester United linked with a transfer, but a former Dortmund boss might also be interested.

Thomas Tuchel just missed Sancho at Borussia Dortmund, departing for Paris Saint-Germain in May of 2017, just months before the winger's arrival, but he is now reportedly keen to work with the England international.

According to Bild, Tuchel is lining up a raid on his former club to sign Sancho at Chelsea, and there may just be an opening despite the heavy competition.

That's because the report claims there is an agreement between Sancho and Dortmund that if a fair offer comes in, he will be allowed to leave this summer having stuck with the club in recent seasons despite interest.

It's claimed Sancho's price has dropped, too, with Dortmund not willing to accept any less than £100million last summer amid interest from United.

With the financial impact of coronavirus, the fee is now said to have dropped to £78million, and that could make him much more affordable for Chelsea, who are also in the market for a striker this season.

Dortmund frontman Erling Haaland looks to be out of reach, potentially turning the Blues towards former striker Romelu Lukaku, who is going to cost around £105million this summer.

Though, that's still likely cheaper than Haaland, potentially allowing Chelsea to put some money towards Sancho, but Tuchel does have plenty of options out wide.

Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi are all options out wide, while Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech can also fill in at wider positions than their preferred central attacking roles.

Sancho has been with Dortmund since 2017 when he made the move from Manchester City's youth setup, since making 101 Bundesliga appearances, scoring 36 times.
