Chelsea may well pay the price for taking their eye off the ball when it comes to their most recent attempts to sign a new defender.
The Blues are said to be interested in signing 18-year-old centre back Illya Zabarnyi from Dynamo Kyiv this summer, but may now miss out.
Italian giant Juventus are believed to be stepping up their interest in acquiring the young defender, with Chelsea yet to seal the deal.
According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Chelsea were prepared to bid €12million (£10.3million) for Zabarnyi but Thomas Tuchel is now weighing up a move for a number of other options.
The German manager has a collection of quality defenders in his team, but with Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta reaching the latter stages of their respective careers and rumours persisting over the futures of Antonio Rudiger and Kurt Zouma, Tuchel is understandably interested in recruiting some fresh defensive talent.
However, while Chelsea consider their options, Juve have pushed themselves into the queue for the Ukrainian and although they cannot quite match the same fee, it is believed that they will offer in the region of €5.5million (£4.7million) with added bonuses.
It remains to be seen if this offer would be enough to tempt Dynamo Kyiv - or indeed to push Chelsea into making an official offer - but the highly-rated teenager may well soon find himself at a bigger club.
Despite being so young, Zabarnyi has established himself as a member of Kyiv's first team and even featured for his country at Euro 2020.
This one may have some way to go yet, but perhaps now Tuchel will pull the trigger on this deal and bring Zabarnyi to Stamford Bridge.
