Chelsea 'set to battle Liverpool and Man Utd' for Jadon Sancho transfer

Chelsea are preparing to break their transfer record in the pursuit of Borussia Dortmund and England winger Jadon Sancho.

The 19-year-old has attracted major interest from Premier League clubs since he decided to quit Manchester City back in 2017.

Liverpool and Manchester United are both keen on bringing Sancho back to England.

But Goal report that Chelsea are confident they will be able to persuade the youngster to snub all other options in favour of a move to west London.

Frank Lampard's side are still banned from signing players as they await their Court of Arbitration for Sport [CAS] appeal verdict.

But the Blues are said to be pressing ahead with their transfer plans as they prepare a busy summer in 2020.

Chelsea spent £72m on Kepa Arrizabalaga in 2018 and are willing to go even higher to lure Sancho to Stamford Bridge.

The attacker enjoys a fantastic relationship with a host of Lampard's squad, including Tammy Abraham and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Sancho's future in Germany has been thrown into doubt recently after it was revealed club bosses had punished him twice in as many months for internal matters.

Despite this, German outlet Bild claim the player has no intention of leaving the club next month.

And Dortmund chiefs are keen to keep Sancho until the end of the season at least as they eye their first league title since 2012.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was asked about the former City star this week amid ongoing transfer speculation.

“He’s a very good player," he said.

“I have no clue where these kind of things [the rumours] are coming from, but it cannot come from us because we never speak about it.

“If we would be involved, nobody would know about it apart from a person who wouldn’t speak about it.

"There’s nothing to say. I know how it sounds, but I cannot change that.

"There’s nothing to say about it, which can mean there’s absolutely nothing to say about it.”

Sancho has five goals in 11 Bundesliga appearances so far this term.
