Chelsea set price tag for West Ham transfer target Tammy Abraham

West Ham United transfer target Tammy Abraham will reportedly be available for transfer this summer if a bid of £40 million is tabled for the England international.

Abraham was a regular starter under previous Blues boss Frank Lampard, but the striker has fallen down the pecking order under current manager Thomas Tuchel and could push for a move this summer.

The 23-year-old has struggled for game-time under Tuchel with his last start for Chelsea coming at the end of February in the 1-1- draw with Southampton, a game in which Abraham was hooked at half-time.

Since then the striker has played just three minutes of football when he appeared as a late substitute against West Ham on Saturday.

Abraham had one sight of goal but was unable to get up high enough to head into the empty net seeing his effort fly harmlessly over the bar.

And according to reports in the Daily Telegraph, the fee Chelsea want for their youth team graduate is £40m, and any move to loan the player would be rebuffed with the 23-year-old looking for stability and regular starts.

West Ham are not the only suitors for Abraham with Leicester City rumoured to be considering a bid as they aim to strengthen their squad ahead of what is looking increasingly likely to be a season of Champions League football for the Foxes.

The striker department is certainly an area of the squad West Ham boss David Moyes is looking to strengthen with the Scot saying in January it was a position he needed filling.

The manager said there was money to spend in the winter transfer window but the 'right man' was not available so he decided to wait until the summer transfer window rather than risk making a costly mistake.

Something the Hammer's have so often done in the past, most notably with the club record acquisitions of Sebastien Haller and Felipe Anderson. Haller was sold in January to Ajax at a £20m loss to the club while Anderson has spent this season at Porto on an unsuccessful loan period.

Abraham has scored 12 goals in all competitions this season from 31 appearances but has only managed one goal under Tuchel.

Injury has not helped his attempts to break into the German's starting XI. However, even when fit he has only been picked from the off on three occasions.

With two years to ruin on his current Chelsea deal the Blues are in a strong position when negotiating any potential sale for Abraham.

The England international would not come cheap in terms of wages either. He would be looking for a huge bump in his reported £50,000 per week deal in order to persuade him to swap west for east London.

When the striker was last involved in contract negotiations with the club his demands were reported to be in the £130,000 per week category and the two sides failed to reach an agreement over his future.
