Chelsea sent Timo Werner transfer demand as Jerome Boateng responds to links

Here is the Chelsea morning digest for Monday, May 25.

Boateng wants Bayern stay amid Chelsea links

Reported Chelsea target Jerome Boateng says he wants to stay at Bayern Munich.

The Blues have been linked with the German central defender, but he claims he is happy under new manager Hansi Flick.

Boateng, who was out of favour under former boss Nico Kovac, told German publication Welt am Sonntag: “At the moment I feel good and can imagine that I will stay. My focus is totally on Bayern and the current season.”

The 32-year-old is set to enter the final year of his contract.

Chelsea Q&A with Oliver Harbord

Go for Havertz – Leboeuf

Chelsea should sign Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz and not Philippe Coutinho, according to former Blues defender Frank Leboeuf.

Havertz and Barcelona midfielder Coutinho, who is on loan at Bayern Munich, have both been linked with moves to Stamford Bridge.

But Lebouef believes Havertz would be a better signing.

He told ESPN FC: “I like his maturity on the field, he looks like someone who is 30 and knows exactly what he has to do and when he has to do it.”

Havertz, 21, scored twice for the Bundesliga club yesterday as they beat Borussia Monchengladbach 3-1, meaning he has now scored 14 goals and claimed eight assists in 36 appearances in all competitions.

Ex-French international Leboeuf added: “The goal he scored was very clever, between the goalkeeper’s legs. He’s the master orchestrator of that team.”

Blues fans: Werner should be at Chelsea

Chelsea supporters are hoping the club can beat Liverpool to the signing of RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

The German scored a hat-trick yesterday as Julian Nagelsmann’s side thumped Mainz 5-0, taking his tally to 22 for the season.

Liverpool are reportedly the favourites to sign the Bundesliga’s leading scorer after Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, but Chelsea fans want manager Frank Lampard to make a move for the 24-year-old, who has been capped 29 times by his country. Read the full story here.
