Chelsea sent 'massive' transfer message as Marina Granovskaia eyes summer spree

Joe Cole says Chelsea's successful end to the season will boost their appeal as a club in the transfer market.

The Blues take on Leicester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday in the midst of a battle to finish in the top four, with a Champions League final against Man City to come at the end of the month.

Chelsea invested heavily last summer, bringing in the likes of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, and they have been linked with a number of big-name players this summer, such as Erling Haaland, with Marina Granovskaia likely to plot another summer spree.

Cole, who is supporting Budweiser's #SupportYourPubs campaign, feels the Blues represent a big draw in the transfer market and that they could be major players in the summer window.

He said: “Chelsea is a massive club to go to in the summer.

“You have to remember, in the recent history of the last 20 years, there’s not been a more successful club in England with the amount of trophies Chelsea have won.

“You’re in London, the club are building and there’s money to spend. It’s a proper destination for players.

“That’s what they must always hold onto as a club. There was a little spell where Chelsea were not where they wanted to be but I think they’re slowly coming back to that now with the structure underneath.”

Cole is excited to see how the season ends for the Blues but warned that they need to keep playing to their maximum in every game in the run-in.

He said: “It’s such an exciting time for the club. I was at the Champions League semi-final and, for the club to get to another final really shows where they’re at.

“There was a little bit of a rebuild but they’ve come back strongly. The young players have been tremendous.

“Mason Mount was different class, it’s exciting times for Chelsea and there’s some big games as well because they need to secure fourth place.

“Leicester are a little more secure in the run-in, so Chelsea cannot take their foot off the pedal, they need to win every game.”

Ahead of the FA Cup final this weekend, Budweiser is giving away all of their advertising and sponsorship space to pubs from west London and Leicester as it calls on fans: Support your club; #SupportYourPubs.
