Chelsea sent clear ‘warning’ from Jules Kounde’s agents over potential transfer deal collapse

Chelsea have been sent a “warning” from Jules Kounde’s representatives over the delay in completing a move for the Sevilla defender, according to reports. The Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the past year, but a deal hasn’t quite materialised yet.

However, since then, the Blues are in desperate need of change throughout their squad. Thomas Tuchel ’s side started last campaign strongly, but faded towards the end, rounding out a disappointing finish.

A number of key players have left too, with a squad refresh on the horizon for the German coach in wake of Todd Boehly ’s completed takeover of the club. On the task ahead, he said: “We are rebuilding, not improving the squad. We are rebuilding. This is always challenging but we are up for the challenge.”

Kounde has since been linked again with a switch, with the 23-year-old continuing to impress for both Sevilla and France. It is believed that a release clause of €80million (£68.8million) exists in his contract, but the La Liga club are likely to settle for less.

However, the saga has continued to rumble on, with the Blues still without a signing at the early stages of the window. And that appears to be something that is frustrating Kounde’s agents.

According to 90Min, the centre-back’s representatives have sent Chelsea a “warning” over the time it is taking to conclude the deal. The report states that the Blues have tabled an offer closer to £50million, which has been rebuffed by Sevilla, with the agents unhappy that the club are reluctant to increase the bid.

It could threaten the deal altogether, with suggestions that Barcelona are interested in swooping in to sign the Frenchman. Though given their financial difficulties, it remains to be seen if a move is possible.

With plenty of time left at the disposal of Tuchel, there may be no hurry to pay more than they have to for any of their targets in the upcoming weeks.
