Chelsea's transfer ban warchest to usher in a new era under Roman Abramovich in 2020

It has been well documented about Chelsea's transfer ban and the effect that it has had on the Blues over the summer.

Chelsea were slapped with a two-transfer window ban on registering new players, meaning that they were unable to bring any fresh faces in to join the squad.

The Blues were able to extend the deal of Mateo Kovacic to make it a permanent move, with his registration already being held by the club and Real Madrid agreeing to a deal.

The club have taken their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and are hoping to get the ban taken down from two windows to just one.

That would leave the club looking to buy players in January, and then into next summer and trying to build a squad with Frank Lampard at the helm.

But even though the Blues were unable to bring players in, they were able to allow some to go, including Eden Hazard.

That was a large chunk of money which came through the door, which is something that could run into potentially £140million with add-ons.

Also, David Luiz headed off to Arsenal on transfer deadline day, with Tomas Kalas and Jay Dasilva also being sold on a permanent deal to Bristol City.

Ola Aina also completed his move to Torino, with Kenneth Omeruo leaving for Leganes after several loan clubs while with the Blues.

Alvaro Morata also completed his permanent deal to Atletico Madrid, however that deal won't be completed until his loan deal is completed next summer.

Of course, there are several players who have returned from the Loan Army, along with Kovacic coming in and Christian Pulisic also coming in.

The Blues have 27 players out on loan as well, but this summer they have certainly been able to add to their funds that they could spend in January, or at least next summer when the ban is finished.
