Chelsea's summer transfer business prompts Kepa Arrizabalaga U-turn

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has reportedly changed his mind about wanting to leave the club following their impressive transfer business so far this summer.

The Blues have already brought in four new signings, with Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva all joining.

And they are not likely to stop there, with Bayer Leverkusen winger Kai Havertz expected to complete a big-money move to Stamford Bridge later this week.

A new goalkeeper was thought to be on Frank Lampard's agenda at the start of the summer, with Kepa's form and attitude called into question.

But according to The Sun, Kepa has been particularly impressed with the defensive arrivals of Chilwell and Thiago, and is now determined to fight for his No.1 spot along with Willy Caballero.

It remains to be seen how Lampard judges the situation, however, with the Blues manager said to have never felt convinced by Kepa's abilities.

The 25-year-old - who became the world's most expensive goalkeeper when he was signed from Athletic Bilbao for £71m in 2018 - was dropped for a number of games near the end of the season, including for the FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal earlier this month.

He is said to have received a number of offers from Spain to return to La Liga, and at one stage looked certain to depart, but may well now end up staying in west London.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have been linked with the likes of Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak and Dean Henderson of Manchester United as possible replacements for Kepa, but Oblak is likely to prove too expensive while Henderson has recently signed a new contract extension at Old Trafford.

This means Lampard may have no choice but to put his faith in Kepa and hope his performances improve with new defenders ahead of him.
