Chelsea's summer signing excited by Blues move after World Cup heroics

Soon-to-be Chelsea winger Guro Reiten was glowing with excitement when speaking about her move to London, but remains fully focused on World Cup progression with Norway after defeat to France.

The LSK Kvinner player, top scorer in Norway's first division in each of the last three seasons, played the full 90 minutes in the 2-1 defeat by the World Cup hosts.

She showed glimpses of talent with her dribbling and strength, which caused major problems for the France defence.

With her move to the Blues becoming official following the tournament, Reiten said: "I'm very excited to play for Chelsea but for now I have to focus on the World Cup because it's kind of exciting too."

The 24-year-old felt her side were unlucky to be beaten by France, leaving their hopes of progression dependent on next Monday's final Group A game with South Korea.

"It was a tough game but we gave them a good fight," she said. "I think we deserved a point.

"We played well so we just have to continue what we're doing now in the next games because it's good.

"We are going to have to get back up again and hopefully win the next game.

"In the World Cup every game is difficult and we have lots of very different opponents so we just have to put this one behind us and focus on the next one."

The winger was unable to add to her goal in the opening game against Nigeria but remains confident that her goalscoring abilities will prevail in the remainder of the tournament.

"Everyone wants to score," she said. "I think I can get more myself but if it's my goal or not I don't care.

"As long as we score I'm happy."
