Strict Chelsea transfer policy could accelerate Willian exit

Chelsea won’t change their contract policy regarding players over 30 even though it could see Willian follow Cesc Fabregas out of Stamford Bridge.

Willian, 30, has 18 months left on his deal, but is believed to be looking to extend his deal until 2023.

Early discussions have taken place with the Brazil star and Chelsea have made it clear that they will only consider offering another 12 months.

Fabregas, 31, left last month after Chelsea offered him another year but he left for Monaco, who offered him a deal that runs to 2022.

Willian has regularly insisted he is happy at Chelsea, but this has put his future at the west London club in doubt. He has been a mainstay of the first team since joining in 2013 and has garnered interest from Manchester United, Barcelona and Paris St Germain over the past six months.
