Chelsea's stance on Ben Chilwell transfer as Paris Saint-Germain open talks for Alex Telles deal

Chelsea and Frank Lampard have reportedly suffered a major blow in their attempts to sign Porto left-back Alex Telles.

According to French outlet Le10sport, Paris Saint-Germain have opened negotiations with the Portuguese outfit regarding the left-back, having already made contact with the player's representatives.

In addition, the report claims Porto's asking price for the Brazilian is €30 million, despite PSG currently willing to offer around €20 million (£17.9m).

Talks between the two clubs is likely to have an impact on Chelsea's plans to recruit a left-back in the summer transfer window.

Telles is one of several names being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, but as revealed by football.london's Chelsea correspondent Oliver Harbord, Ben Chilwell is the Blues' first-choice target.

However, he concedes much depends on selling Emerson Palmieri and also agreeing a deal with Leicester City to part company with the England international.

"Big interest in the position," Harbord wrote when asked for an update on the club's left-back search. "There is certainly going to be some big interest for Frank Lampard in the left-back position over the summer, if the Blues are able to bring in any new players.

"Marcos Alonso has shown he still has some effectiveness, especially when playing in the wing-back role, but Emerson Palmieri has not had the impact he would have wanted.

"If the Blues are able to get an offer for the Italy international, then it is likely that they would take it.

"As far as the search, Ben Chilwell still remains the number one target for the Blues, however any move for the England international is going to be tough to pull off.

"It will be a high fee and the Foxes are going to make it hard to seal."

With that said, PSG's potential swoop for Telles doesn't change Chelsea's stance all that much.

Although, they do run the risk of missing out on a back-up option if they don't manage to seal a deal for Chilwell.

How Telles to PSG could affect the Blues is that it could put pressure on club director Marina Granovskaia to complete the Chilwell deal in order to deliver Chelsea and Lampard's transfer vision.
