Chelsea's Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell may miss Czech Republic game after Billy Gilmour contact

England have confirmed that Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount will now self-isolate as a precaution following their close contact with Billy Gilmour on Friday evening.

Gilmour recorded a positive Covid-19 test that was announced on Monday afternoon.

The Chelsea duo embraced the Scotland midfielder at the final whistle of the 0-0 draw at Wembley on Friday night, but could now miss the clash with Czech Republic at Wembley tomorrow.

It is currently not clear about how long Mount and Chilwell will need to isolate for - with the Blues duo both recording negative results on their respective Covid tests.

The England official Twitter account have now released a statement confirming the decision regarding the Chelsea pair.

"As a precaution at this time and in consultation with Public Health England, Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount are isolating after interaction with Scotland player Billy Gilmour at Friday's match," the statement from England's Twitter read.

"The pair will be kept away from the rest of the England players and wider support team, pending further discussions with Public Health England.

"The entire squad had lateral flow tests on Monday afternoon and all were again negative, as was the case with Sunday's UEFA pre-match PCR tests.

"We will continue to follow all Covid-19 protocols and the UEFA testing regime, while remaining in close contact with Public Health England."

Gareth Southgate could be forced to change his preparations for the final group clash against Czech Republic, with Mount being a key part of his plans so far, having started both games so far for the Three Lions at Euro 2020.

Chilwell, however, is still waiting for his first appearance for England at the Euros.

Southgate spoke about whether the pair would be able to feature for England in their clash with the Czechs tomorrow evening.

He said: "We don't know at the moment. There's obviously got to be quite a doubt, but there's still a lot of discussions and investigations going on behind the scenes.

"At the moment, they're isolating and we just have to find out over the next 12 hours or so."
