Chelsea's Kepa Arrizabalaga discusses Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea's mood after being dropped

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalagaa has insisted there is a good atmosphere with Spain teammate David de Gea, despite displacing the Manchester United No.1 in the national team.

Kepa started in goal for Spain in their 2-1 win over Romania in Bucharest last night (Thursday), making an outstanding last minute save to deny Goerge Puscas.

The Chelsea man has been preferred to United's keeper by new Spanish boss Roberto Moreno and made the telling contribution to give Moreno a in in his first game, since taking over from Luis Enrique.

De Gea's form has been mixed for club and country since a difficult time in goal during the 2018 World Cup and he is yet to agree a new United contract, with his current deal expiring in June 2020.

"Whoever plays is the coach’s decision, we always train with three goalkeepers and the atmosphere is very good," Kepa told journalists after the game, which preserved Spain's 100 per cent record in Euro 2020 qualifying.

Spain will host the Faroe Islands on Monday as they look to make it six wins from six in Group F this season. De Gea is expected to again sit on the bench.

Meanwhile United will continue to wait on the Spaniard signing extended terms to keep him at Old Trafford. MEN Sport previously understood United officials were hopeful of keeping the man who is a leader in the dressing room, but negotiations have stalled with De Gea yet to sign a contract.
