Chelsea's Kai Havertz aims dig at Man United, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich

Kai Havertz has revealed why he snubbed interest from other clubs in the summer, claiming Chelsea were a side "with a vision."

The 21-year-old joined the Blues from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth £71million and so far he has scored four goals in 10 games.

The attacking midfielder, who can also play as a winger, scored 36 goals and contributed 25 assists in 118 appearances for the Bundesliga club before moving to Stamford Bridge.

The form of Havertz, who is Chelsea's second most expensive signing after Kepa Arrizabalaga joined from Athletic Bilbao for £71.6million, attracted the attention of multiple European giants.

Bayern Munich were reportedly keen on the German, with Real Madrid, Manchester United and Liverpool also linked.

But the midfielder chose to sign for the west London club, and now he has revealed why he made that decision.

“To me, it was important to have a club with a vision," he told Sport Bild, via Football365.

“We want to build something here and attack. This motivates me. And then, a title with Chelsea is just worth more.

"A transfer like this doesn’t happen overnight. I had enough to go through all options and things which are important to me.

"I was watching a lot of Premier League on TV anyhow and knew Chelsea really well.”

Fellow German Timo Werner, who moved from RB Leipzig this summer, linked up with Havertz at Stamford Bridge and the youngster said his international teammate has helped him settle in England.

“I help Timo with good passes on the pitch and, at the beginning, he helped me out with a lift to the training grounds,” he added.

“Sure, we do a lot of things together. This helps a lot. But we also must go our own ways to fully settle here.

“To me, the move to England is also important step for my personal development.”

Havertz tested positive for coronavirus and began self-isolating just under a week ago.

He is likely to be able to play some part in the away trip to Newcastle United on November 21.

Chelsea sit fifth in the Premier League with 15 points from eight games.

They are unbeaten in the League in six matches and are the division's top scorers with 20 goals.

A win over Newcastle could briefly take the top of the table that weekend.
