Chelsea's full injury list as Frank Lampard addresses selection issue ahead of Leeds United clash

Frank Lampard saw a much-changed Chelsea side warm up for this weekend's clash against Leeds United in perfect fashion as the Blues romped to a 4-0 Champions League victory in Sevilla on Wednesday evening.

Lampard made a total of nine changes from the side that drew against Tottenham at the weekend, no doubt with one eye on the Saturday evening clash against Leeds United.

Marcelo Bielsa's side head to Stamford Bridge on the back of an excellent 1-0 win against Everton at Goodison Park and the Blues boss will know exactly what to expect from the Whites, given this will be his fifth encounter against Bielsa, following their four epic clashes in the 2018-19 Championship season.

While the Blues go into the weekend as the Premier League's equal leading scorers, Olivier Giroud will have given Lampard food for thought following his four goal haul in Spain.

Bielsa vs Lampard - Here we go again

"Yeah, and that's what you ask I suppose, when you make nine changes," Lampard said when asked if it will be hard to leave the Frenchman out this weekend,

"I always say when I pick the team I try to pick the best team for the game, and not to have favourites as such.

"You try to put the best team on paper, but when players play like they did today they give you a great problem.

"It's having a top player playing with quality and playing with dedication."

While Lampard mulls that one over, he has few injury problems to contend with. Here is a look at Chelsea's current injury doubts and recent absentees.

Ben Chilwell - fit again

Full-back Ben Chilwell has been key for the Blues and looked to roll his ankle in the 15th minute against Spurs last weekend.

“I was desperate to carry on and thankfully I ran it off," Chilwell said after the game.

"It’s fine now so I’m just looking forward to recovering and hopefully playing again in midweek."

Lampard rested him for Sevilla, meaning he should be fine to face Leeds.

Christian Pulisic

The American made his first start after being forced to sit out five matches with a hamstring problem in Spain last night.

The winger played 67 minutes before being taken off and will give Lampard the option to play Timo Werner centrally against Leeds, with the German having recently been deployed on the left of Chelsea's front three.

Kai Havertz

Havertz missed two matches last month following a positive coronavirus test, but was able to make his return off the bench against Spurs last weekend.

The 21-year started last night's trip to Spain, assisting the Giroud's first goal before being substituted after the break.

Billy Gilmour

The Blues teenager was able to make his first appearance of the season following knee surgery in the summer when he came off the bench for the final five minutes against the La Liga side last night.

His return means that Lampard should have a fully fit squad to choose from this weekend.
