Chelsea's fears confirmed as they discover the extent of Christian Pulisic's latest injury

Christian Pulisic has suffered yet another an injury blow after being diagnosed with a quad strain on international duty with the USA.

The Chelsea man, who is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund, suffered the injury during the US' 1-1 friendly with Chile on Tuesday night, limping off 36 minutes into the first half.

He had scored in the fourth minute of the tie but was forced off with the injury, which after having an MRI scan was diagnosed as strained right quads.

Chelsea's pre-season plans and why the Blues are not part of the International Champions Cup

The 20-year-old has returned to Dortmund, not Chelsea, where he will continue treatment on the injury.

At the moment there's no timeframe on how long the US international will be out for but the USMT have confirmed that it will be the German side who will establish a timetable for his return from injury.

Chelsea signed Pulisic in the January transfer window for a reported £58million but his appearances in the Bundesliga have been marred by muscle injuries this season.

He's only played 15 league matches having tore a calf muscle in October before injuring his thigh muscle in February, while he has also had to content with Jadon Sancho for a place in the Dortmund side.

Pulisic will join up with his Chelsea team mates once the season ends after the Stamford Bridge outfit loaned him back to Dortmund after capturing his signature and they will be keeping an eye on this latest injury and how he recovers from it.

Why Chelsea can have a huge impact on the future of European football this week
