Chelsea's big Liverpool dilemma when they take on Manchester City this week

Chelsea’s match with Manchester City on Thursday night will be a massive one for the Blues to continue their progress.

Frank Lampard’s side clinched an important 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday in their first game back in the Premier League’s restart.

Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Sheffield United all dropped points over the weekend, meaning the Blues strengthened their hold on the top four.

The Blues will be going all out for victory this week against City to keep their strong position in the Champions League places.

However, a victory for the Blues might not go down well with all the Chelsea fans as it could hand Liverpool the Premier League title.

After their draw with Everton on Sunday evening, the Reds are currently 23 points above Pep Guardiola’s side, who have a game in hand.

They play that match tonight (Monday) against Burnley, meaning that if they win that the title could be decided in midweek.

Liverpool face Crystal Palace on Wednesday night, and if they win that and Chelsea beat City the following evening, the Reds will be crowned champions.

Of course, that won’t play in the mind of Frank Lampard and his Chelsea players, who will only be interested in three points.

But it might be a bit heart wrenching for some fans to see Liverpool win the title due to a Chelsea win.
