The 2020/21 season is looking promising for Chelsea and Frank Lampard.
Following heavy investment in the summer transfer window - bringing in the likes of Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech - the Blues did stutter at the start of the campaign with a couple of 3-3 draws which posed questions about their defence.
Furthermore, there was a defeat at the hands of reigning Premier League champions Liverpool and a penalty shootout loss to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
With that said, the past month has seen major improvements from Lampard's side as the Chelsea head coach may have finally found the right balance between defence and attack.
As things stand, the Blues are a point off the top four in the Premier League table and are on the brink of sealing a place in the Champions League following Wednesday night's 3-0 win over Rennes.
During the month of October, there were some standout performers in the Chelsea squad
Most notably Thiago Silva, Kurt Zouma, Ben Chilwell, Timo Werner and even Ziyech who returned from injury last month and marked both of his starts with a goal.
However, none of the aforementioned five have been voted as Chelsea's Player of the Month for October.
That honour goes to goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
football.london gave Chelsea fans the chance to name the club's most impressive player throughout October and the £22m summer signing from Rennes won by a landslide.
Mendy got 64.2% of the vote, while Ziyech was a distant second with 10.3% of the votes.
Surprisingly, Thiago Silva doesn't make the top five as he trails Chilwell and Werner.
Mendy is yet to concede a goal in either the Premier League or the Champions League so far this season and has impressed Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand with his performances.
"We watched him here against Palace earlier in the season and I think it was his first game and he was very assured," Ferdinand told BT Sport. "He is a huge size, a great specimen, but the guy makes saves. He makes important saves at important times.
"He made a couple of mistakes at Old Trafford [against Manchester United] with his feet but it didn't affect him at all. He didn't appear to drop any confidence.
"The guy looks as though he has come here to say 'look, I'm here to make saves.'"
