Chelsea's advantage over Man United, Liverpool & Arsenal amid talk of £85m Leon Bailey transfer

Chelsea are once again being linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey.

A couple of summers ago the Jamaican was tipped to join the Blues, but a transfer never materialised and he's continued to impress in Germany with the Bundesliga outfit.

This season the 22-year-old has weighed in with seven goals and one assist in 22 appearances across all competitions.

His last outing came in Leverkusen's 3-1 Europa League round of 16 first-leg win over Rangers where he got on the scoresheet at Ibrox.

It was also a game in which Blues head coach Frank Lampard reportedly kept a close eye on.

So much so that the Express are reporting that Lampard is weighing up an £85m move for Bailey after being impressed with how the winger fared against Steven Gerrard's side.

However, the report does state that Premier League rivals Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are also interested, while Bailey has been a target for Bayern Munich in recent years.

The good news for Chelsea is that they have an advantage over Bayern in that Leverkusen are said to prefer to sell Bailey to a team outside of the Bundesliga.

That is certainly a boost for the aforementioned English clubs.

In addition, it would appear that Bailey is a Chelsea supporter.

A tweet from him in 2015 has resurfaced which shows him in a Chelsea shirt with the caption 'Dream big #Humble'.

And there's more good news for the west London side as Bailey has previously said his dream is to play in England one day.

"Of course I have a dream club, but I will not tell," he said.

"Basically, England was and still is my dream. And if I keep working hard, I’m sure it will work someday. The change to Bayer was just the right step for my development."
