Chelsea's stint under Maurizio Sarri proved to be short but sweet, with the Italian boss lasting a single season at Stamford Bridge and delivering Europa League glory, as well as a top-four finish.
Now at Juventus, Chelsea have handed the reigns over to club legend Frank Lampard, who guided Derby County to the Championship playoff final last term in what was his first season in management.
He has inherited a talented Chelsea squad, which includes Christian Pulisic preparing for his first season in England, but the loss of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid, accompanied by a transfer ban, has not made things easy.
Things could be even more difficult as top-six rivals Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have all splashed the cash this summer.
With the start of the Premier League season right around the corner, Arsenal are busy preparing for the big kick-off against Manchester United and excitement is building.
BT Sport have added further fuel to the fire by developing a bumper supercomputer that has predicted everything from Premier League results to the continental campaign, including who will be the top-scorers, leading creators and strongest defence in the top-flight.
Unfortunately, a perfect start for Lampard is not expected to occur as the Blues are expected to lose to United at Old Trafford on the opening weekend of the season.
However, things are expected to pick up as Chelsea are then backed to go on the longest unbeaten run of any Premier League side in the 2019/20 season, although the run is ended by Everton - and the Blues also lose to Inter Milan in the Champions League.
By that stage, the Blues have already qualified for the latter stages though and they reach new heights at Christmas - sitting top of the Premier League and becoming the first side to win a league match at Spurs' new stadium.
A New Year collapse is huge though, as Chelsea endure a seven-match winless streak, the longest such run of any top-six side, and a European boost doesn't offer too much as a win against Borussia Dortmund is followed by a quarter-final exit at the hands of Real Madrid.
Ultimately, the race is all about a top four finish and that goes down to the final day, where Manchester United fail to win and Chelsea secure Champions League football for another year.
On a more positive note, they are the only side Manchester City fail to beat and Tammy Abraham becomes the club's first English player to be top-scorer in the Premier League for Chelsea since, you guessed it, Lampard.
