Chelsea reported to have readied €100million bid for PSG star as more contract talks on horizon

Welcome to our football.london Carefree Chelsea daily news round-up. Maybe not the first, we've definitely done news round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all. Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.

New deals on the horizon

The Evening Standard report that Chelsea are hoping to secure the futures of a number of their key players.

Contract talks with Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger are understood to be ongoing, and once finalised the Blues intend to begin negotiations with N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mason Mount.

All three players played a key role in Chelsea's Champions League triumph last season, while they also represented their respective countries at Euro 2020, with Jorginho proving instrumental in Italy notching their second European Championship crown.

Jorginho's recent form has seen him linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, and with less than two years remaining on his current deal, the club will be keen for him to pen fresh terms to avoid losing him for a cut-price fee next summer.

Chelsea tried to sign PSG defender

According to French news outlet RMC Sport, Chelsea tried to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos from the Ligue 1 club in the summer transfer window.

The report claims that the Blues were looking to bolster their centre-back options and liked the idea of Marquinhos joining countryman Thiago Silva in the backline.

It’s understood that Chelsea were willing to send €100million on the 27-year-old, but neither club wanted to push through the deal after Marquinhos made it clear he wanted to stay in Paris.

Wilfried Zaha praises Chelsea loanee

Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha has heaped praise on his teammate and Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher.

Zaha was speaking on TalkSport when he was asked about Gallagher's qualities and the Ivory Coast international was absolutely certain that the Blues midfielder will go to the very top.

“He is a very good player, to be honest," he said of the youngster. "The thing he brings is that energy we need. I’m sure everyone’s seen it. There have been a couple of games in which everyone can see Conor’s potential because he’s young as well, so he’s only going to get better.

“Having him in the team has improved the team massively because of the energy. He will be a top player. Not everyone can go from box to box throughout the whole game. So yeah, it makes a difference.”
