Chelsea receive transfer instruction as Nottingham Forest move takes fresh twist

Here are your headlines...

Lyon reject Forest transfer offer for £55m Arsenal target

Nottingham Forest have made their first move for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, according to reports in France.

Steve Cooper is keen to add further to his squad in the final weeks of the summer transfer window. The Reds have added 12 new faces to the squad since the end of last season, but are targeting more arrivals between now and the deadline on September 1.

One area in which they are keen to strengthen is central midfield. James Garner has been linked with a return from Manchester United but Aouar has emerged as another possible target for the club, but Forest would face competition for the signing.

Neville makes ‘inevitable’ Forest transfer claim amid Cooper rebuild

Gary Neville has said that it is ‘inevitable’ that Nottingham Forest are one of the most active teams in the transfer window this summer after earning promotion back to the Premier League.

The Reds have been busy in the window so far, adding 12 new faces to their squad as Steve Cooper continues to look to add reinforcements before the end of the window on September 1. The number of new players signed has led to some criticism from certain areas, with some likening the activity to that of Fulham when they were last in the Premier League.

The Cottagers spent around £100m on new recruits ahead of the 2020/21 campaign, only to finish in 18th position. Under the stewardship of Marco Silva, the club returned to the Premier League at the first time of asking last season.

Fresh twist in Forest striker transfer as more 'big spending' predicted

Nottingham Forest are now unlikely to sign striker Jizz Hornkamp, despite having an interest in the Dutchman.

The Reds were linked with a move for the 24-year-old last week, but it now "doesn't look like" the move will happen after the Forest hierarchy moved on to new targets for the remainder of the summer transfer window.

Head coach Steve Cooper is looking to bolster his strike force following the arrival of Taiwo Awoniyi from Union Berlin earlier this summer. Lewis Grabban moved on at the end of his contract this summer, while loanee Keinan Davis is back at Aston Villa.

Newcastle set to launch transfer bid for Forest target

Newcastle United are expected to submit an opening bid for Benfica striker and Nottingham Forest target Goncalo Ramos 'in the coming days'.

The 21-year-old has become one of the hottest prospects in Europe and several clubs are chasing his signature this summer. French giants Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly held talks over a possible deal for him to replace Mauro Icardi.

According to Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepulveda, Benfica may be willing to sell if bids above €30 million (£25m) are received despite Ramos' contract including a €120m (£100m) release clause after extending his deal until 2026 last October.

Chelsea receive transfer instruction after surprise Forest claims

Chelsea supporters are unsure about reports that Nottingham Forest have enquired about signing left-back Emerson Palmieri this summer.

The Italy international has been out-of-favour at Stamford Bridge in recent seasons, making just six appearances under current head coach Thomas Tuchel before spending last season on loan in France with Lyon. Emerson also didn't feature in the 20-man squad that was in action on the opening weekend of the Premier League season against Everton.

Despite that, though, several Chelsea fans seem keen on keeping the full-back. Here is a selection of the social media reaction to these recent reports about the Reds ' interest.
