Chelsea readying £77m Haaland offer as Tuchel wants to seal transfer for the 'next Messi'

Here is your Chelsea morning digest for Saturday, February 20.

Tuchel confirms double injury boost

Chelsea have been boosted by the news that both Kai Havertz and Tammy Abraham are fit and available for selection for this lunchtime's clash with Southampton at St Mary's.

Havertz has missed the Blues' last four matches whilst Abraham was forced off with an ankle injury after being on the receiving end of a full-blooded challenge from Jamaal Lascelles during the first half of Monday night's 2-0 win over Newcastle United.

Despite the troubles they have both recently faced, head coach Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that they both are available for this lunchtime's tussle with the Saints.

Can get Kepa challenge Mendy for place in goal?

Speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference yesterday, the German said: "We're very happy that Tammy [Abraham] is very, very good, feels very good, and he's free for training today at three o'clock and if things go well he's in the squad.

"Kai Havertz is back in training and can join us in Southampton."

Tuchel eyes Ruiz-Atil reunion

Chelsea face the prospect of getting themselves involved in a transfer tug-of-war with Spanish heavyweights Barcelona this summer.

Both clubs are keen on signing Paris Saint-Germain midfield ace Kays Ruiz-Atil ahead of his contract in the French capital expiring at the end of the season.

Ruiz-Atil has fallen out-of-favour at the Ligue 1 club following the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino last month, despite having forced his way into the first-team fold under Tuchel, despite his tender age.

However, Tuchel is keen for a reunion with the midfielder in west London, as his potential is said to be very exciting, so much so that has been described as the 'next Messi.'

Blues prepare opening Haaland offer

The Blues are ready to launch an opening bid of £77million in an attempt to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.

According to a report by WinSports, as cited by the Daily Express, the Blues are ready to go all-out for the Norway international this summer in an effort to strengthen Tuchel's attacking options.

The former Red Bull Salzburg man has been in sparkling form this season, scoring 25 goals in 24 games in all competitions.

Haaland has a release clause in his contract worth around £66million but that does not become active until the summer of 2022, meaning the Blues will have to pay a bigger fee than that to secure his signature this forthcoming summer.

But as outlined above, the Blues want to sign him this summer and are already preparing their opening offer.
