Brighton reaction, Edouard Mendy transfer latest, Havertz and Werner debuts: Chelsea Q&A live

Now the dust has settled, it is time to reflect on last night's season-opening win away to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Chelsea's performance in the 3-1 victory was not outstanding but they got the result - something that often could not be said last season.

There was much to like about the performance, from work-rate to Reece James's fine strike and a good debut for Timo Werner.

Kai Havertz clearly needs time to get up to pace having trained just four times but his pressing and willingness to track back will have left Frank Lampard pleased too.

Despite his media comments, it is hard to imagine the head coach being happy with goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who allowed Leandro Trossard to equalise from long-range with a poor attempted save before James's piledrive.

A deal for Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is close despite Lampard refusing to engage when asked about it last night.

Join senior reporter Alan Smith below for the next hour to 90 minutes to reflect on all the above and anything else Chelsea related you want to discuss.
