Chelsea provide Callum Hudson-Odoi update as he recovers from coronavirus

Chelsea have announced that winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has made a full recovery after he tested positive for coronavirus earlier this month.

The England star took to social media to break the news to supporters but said he was self-isolating and gradually starting to feel better.

And the Blues released a statement on Tuesday to confirm that Hudson-Odoi is now back to normal and is no longer displaying any symptoms.

"We are pleased to report Callum Hudson-Odoi is now feeling fine and back to his usual self following the period of self-isolation required after the player tested positive for Covid-19," the statement read.

"In addition to feeling good, the young winger is hard at work training at home to build and maintain his fitness, as are the rest of the Chelsea squad."

Manager Frank Lampard had confirmed last week that Hudson-Odoi was on the mend, saying: "I'm happy to say that in Callum's case, he has made great progress and almost feels his usual self, which is obviously the news we all want to hear.

"I am of course aware that not everyone can or will recover from this virus, so I urge all of the football and sporting community to continue to act responsibly and look out for the health of others."

Hudson-Odoi made his return from a serious injury in September last year, and notched up a goal and four assists in his first five games back for the Blues.

He suffered a setback, however, with a hamstring problem, and was sidelined for the games in February and the start of March.

It remains to be seen when we will see Hudson-Odoi back in action again, with all football suspended for the foreseeable future, but the 19-year-old will be pushing for a place in Gareth Southgate's squad for next summer's European Championships.
