Chelsea prepare Dean Henderson bid and more Manchester United transfer rumours

Chelsea are preparing to make a move for Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson - according to reports.

Henderson's two-year loan spell at Sheffield United will end at the end of the season and the England international is expected to return to Old Trafford to battle David de Gea for the No.1 jersey.

The 23-year-old helped the Blades defeat Chelsea on Saturday to boost their hopes of European qualification and the result meant United can finish third if they win all of their remaining fixtures.

Given De Gea signed a new long-term contract in September and with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisting the Spaniard remains one of the best goalkeepers in the world despite an inconsistent season, Henderson's long-term future at the club remains unclear.

As a result, the Express claim Chelsea are preparing to approach United with an offer to sign the goalkeeper permanently or on loan.

Frank Lampard is believed to have lost patience with current first-choice stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga and views Henderson as the perfect replacement.

With Chelsea set to be a title rival for United next season, it's hard to envisage United authorising a sale to one of their main competitors.

Elsewhere, reports claim United have registered their interest in Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings.

The Midlands side are in grave danger of relegation following a 3-0 defeat at the hands of United in mid-week.

The Mirror believe Mings is a target for United if they fail to beat the drop as he will be made available for £25million.

Everton are also believed to be interested in the former Bournemouth man.

MEN Sport understand Solskjaer is happy with his options at the back and is not prioritising the signing of a new defender in the upcoming window.
