Chelsea poised to receive £25m cash injection as they confirm triple contract decision

Here is your Chelsea morning digest for Saturday, June 5.

Trio sign new deals

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel yesterday signed a new two-year contract extension to commit his future to the Stamford Bridge club, keeping him in west London until the summer of 2024.

Initially signing an 18-month deal upon his arrival at Stamford Bridge back in January, the option to extend his stay has now been activated following the club's UEFA Champions League triumph against Manchester City last Saturday.

The German has proven to be an immensely popular figure in his relatively short space of time at the club, meaning Chelsea and their supporters will be delighted to have got his long-term future sorted within a week of the season ending.

As well as Tuchel extending his stay at Stamford Bridge yesterday, defender Thiago Silva and striker Olivier Giroud were also confirmed to have signed new deals.

The pair have agreed to stay in west London for another year, with tying down Silva understood to have been a top priority.

AC Milan make Tomori decision

Centre-back Fikayo Tomori is set to turn his temporary switch to AC Milan into a permanent one, with the Serie A giants close to triggering the £25million release clause in his Chelsea contract.

After finding himself down the pecking order at the time of the January transfer window, Tomori left Stamford Bridge in an attempt to gain more first-team football, making the switch to the San Siro.

During his loan spell in Milan, Tomori, who has missed out on a place in Gareth Southgate's England squad for Euro 2020, has gone from strength strength, so much so that the Italian giants want to land him on a permanent deal.

The £25million release clause within his contract is poised to be activated within the next few days.

Chelsea make Kane move

Chelsea have made an enquiry over Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane as they consider a summer swoop for the England captain.

According to a report by the Evening Standard, the Blues, who will discover their Premier League fixture list for the 2021/22 campaign later this month, have made enquiries about Kane, alongside Manchester City and Manchester United.

Kane has recently put a whole host of clubs across Europe on red alert after signalling his intention to leave Spurs in a bid to fulfil his ambition of winning trophies.

The England skipper could be a top target for Tuchel this summer, as the Chelsea boss is poised to make signing a striker his number one priority.

The Blues have also been linked with prolific Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland and Inter Milan's Romelu Lukaku.
