Chelsea player ratings vs Man United: Azpilicueta brilliant but Higuain poor as Blues earn point

Chelsea came from behind to earn a point against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon and have boosted their chances of a top four finish in the process.

It was a former Blues favourite who actually broke the deadlock at Old Trafford but unlike previous games against fellow top six sides away from home, Maurizio Sarri's side did not fold.

The result leaves the west London outfit two points clear in fourth place and face Watford in the final Premier League game at Stamford Bridge this season.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri provides hint on Gonzalo Higuain's future at Stamford Bridge

But how did we rate the players in their penultimate away game of the league campaign?

Take a look...

Kepa Arrizabalaga

Made an excellent save to deny Romelu Lukaku early in the game and couldn't do much about the goal as he had to close down the angle.

He had a couple of shots to deal with in the second half which he took comfortably. A solid display. 7

Cesar Azpilicueta

Looked really hyped for the match and was throwing himself around, although he was beaten on a couple of occasions and could have seen a yellow card.

Solid in the second half, without really venturing forward as much as usual. Obviously just looking to keep the point at least and not give too much away. Some brilliant tackles in the second half as well. 8

'Joke team' - Chelsea fans can't believe what Maurizio Sarri has done at Manchester United

David Luiz

A pretty poor first half, with some errant passing and the front two of Lukaku and Marcus Rashford running the back four ragged.

However, in the second half he really stepped up a lot better and was strong against Lukaku and showed much better defensive qualities, although his passing was a bit off. 6

Antonio Rudiger

Got caught under a couple of long balls early on, but showed some good strength and ability on the ball at times. Although, the back four had a bit of a shocker at times.

A real shame that he had to come off with a re-occurrence of his knee injury. Could be his season over. 6

Chelsea team vs Man United confirmed: Kante fit, Alonso starts but no Loftus-Cheek in XI

Marcos Alonso

Beaten on a few occasions by Rashford as he really struggled with the pace of the Englishman. His crossing was all over the place as well and he hardly found his man.

However, popped up with a massive goal in the first half and he took it really well. More solid as well in the second half and did his defensive duties. 7

Jorginho

Looked a lot better on the ball and moving it forward a bit quicker at times and with a bit more energy. However, defensively in the first half the gap was too big and United had so much space.

That improved in the second half, though and they were able to nullify the threat a lot better. 7

N'Golo Kante

A driving force in midfield at times, taking the ball and running so well with it. The only issue was that he was often on his own so couldn't do much with it.

In the second half he did couple of good runs, but it was more about his defensive duties which he really shined at. 7

Mateo Kovacic

Just a nothing first half really as he wasn't in the game at all. Except for one excellent tackle on the edge of his own box, he gave nothing to the team going forward.

The second half he kept his shape and had a couple of driving runs that showed flashes of what he could do, but not enough overall. 4

Willian

Tried to make a few things happen, but really he didn't offer the threat that he would have wanted at times. Looked to cut in on the right, but his crossing was poor as well.

Took a nasty challenge on the ankle from Rojo, and he struggled afterwards. Had one free-kick over the bar. 5

Eden Hazard

The only one in the first half to really show the energy and willing to take players on and attack the defence, which made his job even more difficult.

In the second half he was a bit quieter, with the majority of the play trying to come through him and he tried to make things happen as much as possible. 7

Gonzalo Higuain

A couple of nice touches, but really hardly in the game and the offsides that he got caught with were really frustrating as they broke down some attacks.

No shots of note and it was back to a normal frustration for Chelsea supporters with their strikers. 3

Substitutes

Andreas Christensen (on for Rudiger 65')

Solid when he came on and read the play well. 6

Ruben Loftus-Cheek (on for Kovacic 75')

Struggled to get in the game, but made a couple of nice runs towards the end. A good bit of extra energy. 6

Pedro (on for Willian 84')

His defining moment was a clearance off the line that saved the Blues a point. 7
