Chelsea players' first impression of Kai Havertz as fans spot Frank Lampard's reaction

Kai Havertz left Chelsea boss Frank Lampard with a smile on his face after dazzling displays in his first training sessions.

The Germany international completed his highly-anticipated transfer from Bayer Leverkusen last week, with the Blues paying £72million to land him on a five-year contract.

Havertz, 21, is considered one of the most exciting youngsters in Europe and scored or assisted 27 times for the Bundesliga club last season.

And it appears his move to west London has not dampened his confidence in the slightest, as Goal reports Havertz made a big impression on his new teammates in his first training sessions for the club.

The attacking midfielder scored with both feet at Chelsea's Cobham base and Lampard was seen beaming with his new signing's performance.

"Lampard chatting with him with smiles all over his face," one onlooker noted on Twitter.

In even more good news for Chelsea fans, Havertz is believed to be fit to face Brighton and Hove Albion in the Blues' first game of the season.

The fixture is scheduled for Monday night - two days after most other teams kick off - and the extra days may prove crucial in allowing Havertz to be ready for the trip to the Amex.

Havertz signed a contract worth a reported £310,000 per week and is the latest in a string of exciting signings brought to Stamford Bridge.

He follows former Bundesliga rival Timo Werner, ex-Ajax star Hakim Ziyech and former Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell in joining Lampard's project.

Werner is also expected to be ready for the fixture with the Seagulls but Ziyech and Chilwell are unlikely to feature due to injuries.

Elsewhere, the Blues have also strengthened in central defence with the acquisitions of Malang Sarr, 21, and Thiago Silva, 35, from Nice and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.
