Chelsea player ratings: Jorginho outstanding, Loftus-Cheek impressive & Higuain poor vs Watford

Kepa Arrizabalaga - 7

Made his best save of the season in the eighth minute when he managed to palm away a Deeney header that was destined for the top corner. Was alert throughout the game, enjoying a strong performance.

Cesar Azpilicueta - 6

Struggled at right back during the first half but enjoyed a far better second half and did a good job of defending his flank in the second 45 minutes.

David Luiz - 6

Had a poor first half and found himself caught on the ball a few times, putting his defence under pressure. Did really well to make a run and get his head to the ball to score the second.

Andreas Christensen - 7

Read parts of the game well and mopped up at stages but struggled with the physicality of Troy Deeney in the Watford attack. Was solid for the second half of the game as Chelsea dominated.

Marcos Alonso - 6

A poor first 45 as he struggled down the left. He wasn't able to link up with Hazard much while Watford found a lot of space down his flank. Much improved second 45 minutes from the left back.

Jorginho - 9

Started the game well with his reading of the game a particular highlight. Mucked in defensively and showed his range going forward. Continued to have a good impact on the game with his passes in behind the Watford defence causing problem after problem.

N'Golo Kante - 5

Lasted only eight minutes of the game before he was forced off with an injury in what is a huge blow to Chelsea's end of season hopes.

Mateo Kovacic - 6

His passing was poor while he struggled to deal with the likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure in midfield, with Watford often overrunning the midfield. Did better in the second half as he connected attack and defence.

Pedro - 6

Didn't really find himself involved in the game much but had a few speculative efforts at the Watford goal. Was better in the second and set up Higuain with a lovely piece of vision and pass for Chelsea's third.

Eden Hazard - 8

Wasn't his usual self in the first 45 and couldn't produce that moment of magic that Chelsea fans have seen this season. Got another assist just minutes into the second half when he teed up Loftus-Cheek.

Gonzalo Higuain - 5

Was well off the boil in the first half, not making the required runs while his final ball was dreadful. Struggled through most of the game but scored a wonderful goal when he chipped it over Foster.

Substitutes

Ruben Loftus-Cheek - 7

Was thrust into the game early on after Kante's injury but it took him a while to get up with the pace of the match. Showed good strength in the box to get up and nod home a Hazard cross to open the scoring.

Olivier Giroud  - 5

Didn't have much time to impact proceedings after coming on for Higuain.

Gary Cahill - 5

Came on to a standing ovation for what is most likely the last time at Stamford Bridge but had no time to affect the game.
