Chelsea player ratings vs Tottenham as Enzo Fernandez battles, Kai Havertz poor

Kepa Arrizabalaga - Injected energy into a game that seemed destined to be flat in the opening half as he took his time when on the ball. Could only get a hand to Oliver Skipp's curling strike from distance that handed Spurs the lead. Probably should have dealt better with Emerson Royal's initial shot. 5..

Reece James - The wingback took the captain's armband after Thiago Silva was forced off and was solid but still away from his best form. 6.

Thiago Silva - Was perhaps a little fortunate to go unpunished for his elbow on Cristian Romero but put in some crucial challenges before being forced off the pitch through injuries. 6.

Kalidou Koulibaly - A generally steady outing from the Senegal international albeit with the odd errant pass and a throw-in that never made its way back in play. 6.

Ben Chilwell - A lively outing from the full back who looked to challenge Emerson when he could but was challenged defensively too. Unfortunately faded into the second period and when he scooped the ball straight out after 69 minutes it felt indicative of Chelsea's play. 6.

Enzo Fernandez - The Premier League record signing ensured he was involved in the game both going forwards and in defence. Not a spotless display but covered a lot of ground for the Blues and was unafraid to take responsibility. 6.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek - The midfielder had a limited impact on the game in the centre of the pitch. 5.

Hakim Ziyech - The winger endured a frisky battle with Richarlison on the flank and was sent off for a push on Emerson late in the opening half before almost immediately seeing it rescinded. 5.

Joao Felix - The Portugal international once again found himself at the centre of some of Chelsea's more creative moments but often floundered too. 6.

Raheem Sterling - The winger had an early penalty appeal waved away and saw one of Chelsea's best opportunities later in the opening half. One of Graham Potter's more direct threats on the field but still lacked many genuine chances. 6.

Kai Havertz - Again found himself too often away from the centre of the opposition box when Chelsea attacked and did not occupy Spurs' central defenders often enough. 5.

Substitutes :

Wesley Fofana - The biggest compliment the Frenchman can be paid is that his introduction meant that Thiago Silva's injury did not dominate how the rest of the match was viewed. A good step as he continues to make his way back from injury. 7.

Denis Zakaria - Offered little more than Loftus-Cheek on his return but hinted at the physicality he could provide in winning the ball back. 5.

Mason Mount - Almost found Havertz with a smart first time pass and unnecessarily picked up a yellow card for directing his anger towards referee Stuart Attwell. 5.

Mykhailo Mudryk - Blazed one strike over the bar but had little time to make an impression. 5.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - Starved of possession during his short time on the pitch. 5.
