Chelsea were crowned world champions as they stunned Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the Club World Cup final.
The Blues are the inaugural winners of the expanded 32-team competition thanks to a brace from the brilliant Cole Palmer and another confident finish from £60million signing Joao Pedro.
PSG came into the game as heavy favourites and are the reigning European champions but were downed by the Blues at the MetLife Stadium as Enzo Maresca’s men lifted silverware less than two months after winning the Conference League.
Dom Smith was on hand to rate the Chelsea players’ performances…
An outstanding performance from the Chelsea goalkeeper, who was equal to everything PSG threw at him. This was one of his best games in a Chelsea shirt.
Malo Gusto 7
Set up the second goal and got forward well for the Blues.
Trevoh Chalobah 6
Stood firm at the back for the Blues as he has done all tournament. Hard to see why they would ever look to sell him after this tournament.
Levi Colwill 7
Led the line really well for Chelsea, who played a high line but were never caught out. Booked.
Marc Cucurella 6
Contained the threat of Ousmane Dembele and Goncalo Ramos very well on the left but didn’t advance forward much.
Reece James 6
Overcame an injury issue to play for the first time since the round of 16 against Benfica and put himself about well.
Moises Caicedo 8
Worked tirelessly throughout, using his body to ensure Chelsea kept the ball in midfield and showcasing smart decision-making with his distribution.
Cole Palmer 9
Everything went through Chelsea’s poster boy as he delivered one of his greatest performances of the season in its final game. Scored twice and assisted the other - you can’t argue with that.
Enzo Fernandez 7
Not his most effectual display but his passing was important for the Blues in midfield and the final third.
Pedro Neto 7
Full of pace and running, often spearheading Chelsea’s breakaways down the left flank.
Joao Pedro 8
A bundle of energy throughout, running the line with pace and precision and quick feet. His dinked finish for the third goal was exceptional.
Subs:
Andrey Santos (Enzo Fernandez, 61’) 6
Came on in midfield to steady the ship.
Liam Delap (Joao Pedro, 68’) 7
A livewire off the bench, almost scoring immediately after coming on and very nearly doing so 10 minutes later as well.
Christopher Nkunku (Neto, 76’) N/A
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (James, 76’) N/A
