Chelsea player ratings vs Leeds: Loftus-Cheek good, Jorginho shows nerves of steel in vital win

Edouard Mendy

Good stop from Raphinha's free kick in the first half before the Brazilian beat him from 12 yards. Fine save from the same player after the break but couldn't do anything about Gelhardt's equaliser. 6

Reece James

Heavily involved early on as he drifted into a central position plenty of times from his wing-back spot. Booked for a wild lunge on Firpo in the first half. Continued to move infield after the break, didn't see a lot of the ball in wide areas. 7

Cesar Azpilicueta

Selected ahead of Andreas Christensen and had a good first half, dovetailing nicely with Reece James down the Chelsea right. Exposed a bit after half time for his lack of pace but on the whole, did OK. 6

Thiago Silva

Didn't have too many problems with Daniel James. One superb bit of defending early in the second half on James as Leeds broke clear, isolated but still won the ball cleanly. Gelhardt got goalside of him for Leeds' second. 7

Antonio Rudiger

Typically lively first half as he ran forward at will and looked to launch shots whenever he could. Coped well for the majority when Raphinha moved centrally. 7

Marcos Alonso

Some poor touches broke down a couple of moves. Very clumsy challenge on James to concede the first half penalty but did well to win the ball off Dallas to assist Mount's equaliser. Not much to report in the second half as he was rather quiet at both ends of the pitch. 6

Jorginho

Not 100 per cent fit but still managed to complete the 90 minutes. Played well in the first half and dispatched his spot kick with aplomb just shy of the hour mark and again under massive pressure in injury time to win it. 8

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Frustrating in the first half as he got into good positions but his final ball let him down on occasion. That said, he was clearly sticking close to Jorginho who is not fully fit to protect him a bit. Let a bit loose in the second half and made a number of good runs forward with the ball. 8

Mason Mount

Struggled to get into the game initially as Leeds defended deep and allowed him no space or time. Only needed one chance though and swept the Blues level four minutes before half time. Quiet in the second half but was full of energy and defended well. 7

Timo Werner

Kept his starting berth having scored twice in midweek. Had a good battle down the left hand side with Jamie Shackleton which the Leeds man often had the better of. No real chances of note and subbed off for Hudson-Odoi in the second half. 7

Kai Havertz

Preferred up front to Romelu Lukaku to start. His passing in the first half left a lot to be desired, especially in advanced positions. Hold up play was better after the break but not too much of an impact all told. To be fair, he didn't have a lot of good service. 7

Substitutes

Callum Hudson-Odoi (for Werner, 74')

Showed some nice touches after coming on. 6

Andreas Christensen (for Azpilicueta, 74')

Straight swap on the right of the back three. 6

Romelu Lukaku (for Alonso, 86') No rating
