Chelsea player ratings vs Krasnodar: Ziyech, Havertz impress; Jorginho misses another penalty

Edouard Mendy Looked assured but needed the woodwork to keep a fourth consecutive clean sheet. Best save came from Marcus Berg's attempt from a tight angle. 6

Cesar Azpilicueta Got forward well, sending in a couple of threatening crosses including the one that saw Timo Werner fouled for a penalty. 6

Kurt Zouma Looked a little less certain without Thiago Silva next to him but made a key block from Yuri Gazinski early in the second half. Needed some medical attention after taking a blow while defending a corner. 6

Toni Rudiger The German's first start of the campaign but expect Thiago Silva to replace him against Burnley on Saturday. Hard to argue against a clean sheet but Krasnodar were allowed few too many opportunities at 1-0. 6

Ben Chilwell Lost possession cheaply to allow Marcus Berg an early shot that went wide but got forward well. 6

Jorginho Hit the post with Chelsea's early penalty after sending Krasnodar's goalkeeper Matvei Safonov the wrong way. Made a couple of key defensive actions but played a role in allowing the hosts so many opportunities. 6

Mateo Kovacic Industrious in a first start for several weeks. Scuffed a first-time effort narrowly wide early in the second half but was replaced by Mason Mount with 19 minutes to go. 6

Hakim Ziyech A promising first start for the former Ajax man. He saw an early attempt saved and his passing ability was on full display early on. Created another attempt for himself in the second period but was denied before making it 3-0 with his final touch before being substituted. 7

Kai Havertz Chelsea's best player. An inauspicious start as he oughed up the ball early to give Krasnodar a sight of goal inside five minutes but created a number of Chelsea's best chances, including a lovely turn and pass for Hudson-Odoi's opener. Had more time and freedom compared to Premier League games. 8

Callum Hudson-Odoi Had a header deflected over midway through the opening period and there was an element of luck about his goal as Safonov committed a dismal error but it will be a huge confidence boost for the young winger as he fights for more minutes. Did not stop working before being replaced by Christian Pulisic with an injury to his upper left leg. 7

Timo Werner Quiet start but won the penalty after controlling an Azpilicueta cross and found a little bit of joy when running hard down the channels. Finished the second spot kick clinically to make it a comfortable final few minutes and set up Ziyech for Chelsea's third. 7
