Chelsea player ratings: Kepa brilliant & Loftus-Cheek the difference in win over Slavia Prague

Kepa Arrizabalaga - 7

Made some decent saves throughout the tie to keep Chelsea in the match as Slavia peppered his goal mouth with efforts. Looked a bit suspect when coming from crosses but a good showing.

Antonio Rudiger - 6

Mopped up well at the back beside Christensen but found himself doing a lot more defensive work than he perhaps thought he'd have to do. Dealt with the Prague threat well during in the second half.

Cesar Azpilicueta - 5

Found space down the right and got into some good positions but wasn't able to use it to his advantage. Saw a lot of crosses come in from his flank.

Andreas Christensen - 6

Made some important challenges in the middle as he and Rudiger dealt with an awful lot of Slavia pressure. Had a few nervy moments but a decent performance.

Marcos Alonso - 6

Was involved in a battle down the left and saw a lot of defensive work come his way in the first 45, which he dealt with fairly well. Allowed Slavia to get too many crosses into the box in the second half but got forward well and made a good run to nod home the Chelsea goal.

Jorginho - 5

Struggled with the intensity of the Prague press and couldn't stamp his authority on the match in the opening first half. Was more of the same in the second 45 in what was a disappointing performance from Jorginho.

Ross Barkley - 4

Put in some strong tackles in midfield over the course of the first 45 and looked like he was enjoying playing in the hostile atmosphere. Will be disappointed with his attacking contribution this evening.

Mateo Kovacic - 3

Didn't have a great game or much impact on the match. Broke up a few passages of play high up the pitch but had a pretty disappointing performance all round.

Pedro - 3

A really poor performance from Pedro who looked a yard off the pace this evening. Couldn't beat his man while his runs into the box were mistimed and caused Slavia Prague no problems.

Willian - 6

Saw a lot of the ball down the left in the first half but his final ball was lacking more often than not. His curling effort against the bar was the best the side got in the first 45. Didn't do too much in the second 45 but produced a lovely cross for Alonso.

Olivier Giroud - 5

Won a lot of aerial duals with his marker but his service was lacking during the first 45 and he didn't really get a sniff of goal. Saw very little action in the second half as he cut a lonely figure.

Substitutes

Eden Hazard - 6

Was brought on to get Chelsea ticking and made some encouraging runs on the ball at the Slavia defence but was unable to find a way to their goal.

N'Golo Kante - 6

Chelsea looked disjointed and Kante was brought on to hassle the midfield in a way that Kovacic wasn't doing. He won more of the ball and put himself about during his spell.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek - 7

Barkley was largely ineffective in a forward position this evening and Loftus-Cheek was brought on to add some more attacking emphasis. He set up a lovely move that resulted in Chelsea's goal.
